Probably many take it for granted but a wine is not organic in all countries in the same way. In many countries of the world the standards for the production of organic wines differ. Over the years, the European institutions have undertaken to harmonize the systems by creating equivalence agreements, for example, between European organic production and that of the United States.Ecocert Brasil Chianti

In particular, this harmonization does not exist between Europe and Brazil. We have therefore decided to become the first Tuscan winery and among the first Italians to obtain Ecocert Brasil certification for organic production. Basically there are elements that differ. However, there is no substantial difference in terms of production (with the exception of the idea of ​​supply chains and some products for the management of the vineyard). However, since there is no agreement between these institutions, we had to start a new certification which took a long time but we are convinced it will allow us to enhance our Green production also in the eyes of Brazilian consumers.

Ecocert Brasil 

Ecocert is an inspection and certification body founded in France in 1991. The agronomists were aware of the need to develop an agricultural model based on respect for the environment. At the same time wanting to offer recognition to producers who choose this alternative. For almost 30 years we have been collaborating with the players in the organic market in the implementation and promotion of sustainable practices. Over the years, Ecocert has earned the trust of professionals and consumers and has become a reference point in organic certification in the world, reaching the position of world leader in the segment.

In 2001 Ecocert established itself in Brazil. Since then Ecocert has been a strong presence in the development of organic production in our country. Both by participating in the discussions for the construction of the Brazilian organic regulation, and by certifying thousands of producers.

We are convinced that Demeter BiodynamicDemeter certification for our Chianti DOCG and Toscano Rosso IGT represents a very important step not only in the continuous search for quality but above all in the protection of a territory that is unique in the world. Certification to this new production standard required a great deal of commitment from our technicians but right from the start we considered it essential to take this step towards nature.

What is Demeter?

Demeter International is a multinational association and is the largest certification body for biodynamic agriculture. Its Demeter brand, used in over 40 countries, is issued to mark those agricultural or livestock products obtained according to the methods certified by the company. Demeter was born in 1927 by a cooperative of biodynamic farmers in Berlin, to certify their products and defend them from possible counterfeits. In 1928 the Demeter brand was officially established, which as such was the first ecological label for organic food.
The name was chosen in homage to Demeter, the Greek goddess of earth and fertility.

The Standards of winemaking

Demeter standards for winemaking not only identify the minimum necessary actions. They also indicate the direction to aim for improving the quality of the wine. The path to obtaining a biodynamic wine passes through the complete knowledge of the cultivation method and the application of Demeter standards. Starting from the “Demeter Standards of production” and the “Standards Demeter of transformation”. Alongside all the indications and prescriptions of the standards, however, the creativity and professionalism of the biodynamic winemaker intervenes. The producer is called upon to continually verify what has been prescribed and to bring the potential of his company to the best possible expression.

After so many years, the time has come for a restyling for our main label and our most famous wine. new chianti label

We have decided to enhance all the elements that have characterized this product by presenting them in a cleaner and more modern image. TheFigline palace was “freed” from the oval and placed in the center with a gold foil work. Today, like yesterday, we feel connected and we want to enhance our roots. The label is stripped of the box and becomes a totally white background to give greater prominence to the palace of Figline. The lions and the logo come back together in the black band. We have added a small text to communicate what this wine is for us, this land and our values ​​to produce it: “The wine of our origins, the leitmotif of history”.

This is not the first time that we renew the label but on every occasion we have felt and we feel proud of the old image and convinced that the new Chianti label we think can be the perfect evolution of the label of our origins.
